Gregory Stapleton
Partner 

Gregory was one of the founders of the firm in 1992 and has been fundamentally involved with the development of the practice since its inception. Under Gregory’s guidance the firm has established itself as a leading provider of legal services in the North London area.

 
He is Head of the Private Client and Litigation Departments and is also actively involved with Sibel Kiazim in the management of the Residential Property Department.
 
Gregory has extensive experience in advising upon and preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney. He also has particular expertise in the administration of estates and the mitigation of inheritance tax liability. He is assisted in the department by Iain Aitken who completed his training contract with Gregory as his mentor.
 
He is also an experienced litigator and particularly enjoys negotiating settlements in matrimonial and employment proceedings. He has been fundamentally involved with several interesting matrimonial cases including D v D [2001] 1 FLR 495 which remains the established legal precedent relating to the issue of shared residence.
 
Having been responsible for the development of the Residential Property Department, he is also a highly regarded property practitioner, and retains an advisory role within the department.
 
Gregory is well respected within the community and prides himself on running fast, efficient and friendly departments.

Andrew Stapleton
Partner

Andrew Stapleton is head of the Commercial Property Department. He has extensive experience working in both the private and public sectors and prior to setting up Stapletons was Head of Legal Services at a North London Borough Council.

Andrew has for many years specialised in property law, with a particular interest in commercial property matters and he also holds a Diploma in Local Government Law.
 
Professionally Andrew has been involved in dealing with a number of significant projects during his career, including the following:
  • Sales and purchases of businesses
  • Acting for landlords and tenants in connection with business premises, including those on industrial and retail estates
  • Major land sales and infill development schemes
  • Town centre regeneration projects
  • Building leases for industrial units, a theatre and a leisure centre
  • Planning and Highways Agreements for the above projects and many other smaller schemes
  • Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 lease renewals, both opposed and unopposed
Within the field of public law Andrew’s professional work has included PFI projects, major land disposals and regeneration as well as advising at the highest levels.

Sibel Kiazim
Partner

Sibel Kiazim joined the partnership in August 2007 having completed her training contract with the firm. She is Head of the Residential Property Department and is responsible for property transactions with a capital value in excess of £100 million per annum.

 
She has a friendly and personable approach to her job and is a popular and well respected conveyancing practitioner. She is bilingual in Turkish and also has expertise in the following areas:
  • Sale, purchase, transfer of equity, right to buy and remortgage transactions on behalf of private individuals
  • Assisting high net worth individuals in the acquisition of property 
    portfolios
  • Advising on and implementing sale and leaseback schemes
  • Dealing with bulk plot sales on behalf of investors, to include  
    subsequent sub-sales and assignments
  • Acting for landlords and tenants in lease extension transactions
  • Acting for developers on new build and converted properties on 
    sales of and leases of part
  • Drafting deeds of variations and grants of easements
  • Overseeing the development and production of Home Information Pack’s and implementation of IT systems in connection with the scheme
  • Conducting in-house seminars on changes within the law and  
    procedures affecting property transactions



Iain Aitken
Assistant Solicitor




Iain Aitken joined the firm in April 2007 having studied law at the University of Manchester and the College of Law in York. He qualified as a Solicitor in April 2009, joining the firm’s Private Client Department after training in residential and commercial conveyancing, landlord & tenant, wills, probate, trusts and tax law. 
 
Iain currently works in the following areas:

  • Inheritance tax mitigation
  • General and Trustee Powers of Attorney
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
